Toronto Puts Controversial Coffee Cup Ban on Hold
After a marathon meeting, a Toronto city council committee has decided not to ban paper drink cups with plastic lids -- for now. The issue of coffee and other drink cups with plastic lids has been a vexing one for city recyclers. The paper cup portion is recyclable, but not the plastic top. And Toronto officials say a machine to sort the cups and lids would cost at least $3 million. Should taxpayers be forced to foot the bill?

Graphic Packaging Mill Runs Cleaner, Earns Energy Incentive
Graphic Packaging’s Santa Clara, California paperboard mill recently completed a heat recovery retrofit project that will save over 2.7 million therms of natural gas this year.
