Dairy decants wine ice cream

A most unusual vintage, Mercer's Wine Ice Cream isn't just “wine-flavored,” it says. It's made with real vino. Nestled in New York State's Adirondack Mountains, the dairy has produced assorted ice creams since the 1950s. Mercer's has become a pioneer in the ice cream world, mastering the art of blending luscious ice creams with superb wines to create incredibly elegant adult desserts. Mercer's began producing wine-flavored ice cream in November 2006. The formula is a trade secret, says Mercer's. The ice cream is available in the following varietals: Ala Port; Cherry Merlot; Peachy White Zinfandel; Red Raspberry Chardonnay; and Royal White Riesling. The ice creams are packed in SecurTEC™ 100 tamper-evident, pint-sized rounds from Stanpac (www.stanpacnet.com) and are offset-printed in six colors plus a high-gloss varnish on both the container and the lid.
